Our Tools. Your Volunteers. Building Community.

ABOUT US

Started in 2021 as a TDS Deployment, the New Orleans ToolBank is now a brick and mortar warehouse that serves community-based organizations by providing tools, equipment & expertise to empower their most ambitious goals. Our mission is to equip communities with the tools they need to bring about positive change. Our signature tool lending program allows organizations to borrow tools instead of purchasing them, thereby saving funds that can be utilized to support their mission.

At ToolBank, we aim to disrupt the cycle of unequal distribution of wealth by sharing our resources with qualified community-based organizations. By providing equal access to resources, we remove barriers faced by those who lack it traditionally and help people with service or charitable intent to work on the front lines of our communities’ problems by providing equal access to tools.

Member Agency Testimonials

At HandsOn New Orleans our small team of three professionals has completed over 40 community service projects this year with 2,000+ volunteers that resulted in a $250,000 impact in community savings.  I value the service and resources  ToolBank brings to our community.  HandsOn has saved both money and time. As our tools age, ToolBank’s low fees allow us to have everything we need without having to make expensive replacement purchases.  This is huge in the current economy.  The range of tools also allows us to supplement and surge numbers when we host large teams of 75+ volunteers.  With ToolBank anchoring the community, HandsOn saves time by pointing other nonprofits and informal groups to their services, thereby allowing us to discontinue our tool lending program.  Overall, ToolBank is a friendly, easy, super low-cost welcome addition to New Orleans.  Their work supports the backend of nonprofits who are making amazing differences in our neighborhoods.  Definitely recommend their services!”

Executive Director, HandsOn New Orleans

As the Director of Community Engagement for Councilmember Harris, I wanted to personally thank you for your continued partnership with our office. ToolBank has been a great resource for New Orleanians that wish to make a difference in their community. During our District B Clean Up Days, neighborhood associations and organizations have utilized ToolBank’s services in order to empower their members and neighbors with the necessary equipment to meet their goals. The positive results of your organization have been felt city-wide and continue to make a lasting impact for local projects in New Orleans.

Director of Community Engagement, Councilmember Lesli Harris, District B

Without the New Orleans ToolBank, we wouldn’t have been able to complete our neighborhood tree planting project — plain and simple. They had tools that we wouldn’t have been able to afford within the limitations of our budget and their convenient location + easy logistics made it one of the most seamless parts of an otherwise challenging project to achieve. In a city shaky on resources, the NOTB serves a truly critical function.
