ToolBank USA Announces Executive Director for Newly Opened Detroit ToolBank
DETROIT, MI – ToolBank USA is pleased to announce Dave Bartek as the inaugural Executive Director of the Detroit ToolBank, a major milestone in the launch of ToolBank USA’s newest affiliate. Bartek brings a long history of nonprofit leadership across Detroit and a deep connection to the community he calls home.
The opening of the Detroit ToolBank marks a significant expansion of ToolBank’s mission to equip charitable organizations with the tools and resources needed to serve their neighbors. Over the past several weeks, the space has been transformed from an empty warehouse into a vibrant, purpose-driven hub. Partners from Ford Philanthropy, The Home Depot Foundation, and dedicated volunteer teams have worked side by side with ToolBank USA staff to prepare the site for launch.
This progress has been made possible thanks to the generous support of Carhartt, whose investment helped bring the Detroit ToolBank from vision to reality. Their commitment to strengthening communities is woven directly into the foundation of this new site and will fuel the work ahead as Detroit’s nonprofits gain access to thousands of high-quality tools.
“Dave is exactly the kind of mission-driven leader who embodies the spirit of ToolBank,” said Trey Bearden, CEO of ToolBank USA. “With strong community partnerships and a shared commitment to service, the Detroit ToolBank is poised to become a powerful resource for organizations working to improve lives across the city.”
Bartek, who acknowledges the Detroit area as his lifelong home, attributes his early love of tools and service to lessons passed down by his father, Teddy, a journeyman tradesman who taught him the power of building and helping others.
As Executive Director, Bartek will guide the launch, operations, and community outreach of the Detroit ToolBank, ensuring nonprofits across the region can access the essential tools and equipment they need at a fraction of the cost to carry out projects, expand impact, and strengthen neighborhoods.
