ToolBank Disaster Services sends tools and equipment to Mayfield, KY for Tornado Relief Efforts
Mayfield, KY (December 17, 2021) – ToolBank Disaster Services (TDS) has deployed Bill Hess, our TDS Manager, and Trey Bearden, Chief Program Officer, along with our Ford Transit and camper to Mayfield, KY after the town was devastated from this weekend’s tornado outbreak. The tornado sliced through western Kentucky, killing at least 75 and destroying thousands of homes and buildings, has been designated an EF4 by the National Weather Service. The preliminary rating, announced Wednesday night, means the twister’s winds reached around 190 miles per hour. The EF4 tornado was on the ground for at least 163.5 miles in Kentucky, but the full track is estimated to be longer than 200 miles, and its destruction was at least a mile wide.
Bill and Trey have been working closely with teams of volunteers and assessing their needs for the cleanup efforts. Our team has been loaning out chainsaws, sleds, shovels, and demolition equipment in large quantities. Organizations like Team Rubicon, Cajun Navy Ground Forces, Mayfield American Legion Post 26, and Crisis Cleanup have all borrowed ToolBank tools for their volunteers.
Thank you to our Partners
ToolBank USA would like to thank our national partners: Stanley Black & Decker, Ford, The Home Depot Foundation, and UPS. Stanley Black & Decker will be donating more than 600 DEWALT and STANLEY hand and power tools for this deployment. The Ford Motor Company generously donated funding and is allowing us to borrow a 2021 F-150 hybrid pickups equipped with 7.2-kilowatt Pro Power Onboard generators to help power-up disaster relief worksites. These Onboard generators have the ability to power up to three homes. Without their continued financial and in-kind support, ToolBank Disaster Services would not be able to assist in these types of disaster relief and rebuild efforts.
Additional updates will follow over the next few days and weeks regarding our efforts in Kentucky.
