TEKsystems Marks a Third Consecutive MLK Day of Service Across the ToolBank Network

Each year on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, communities across the country come together to honor Dr. King’s legacy, not just in words but through action. For the third consecutive yearTEKsystems volunteers did exactly that by rolling up their sleeves and supporting 12 ToolBanks nationwide, with more than 300 employees participating in their annual MLK Day of Service.

From building picnic tables and park benches to assembling tools and organizing storage systems, TEKsystems teams showed up ready to serve—and their impact was felt across the ToolBank Network.

Service in Action: Cincinnati ToolBank

At the Cincinnati ToolBank, the day was all about building for the future. TEKsystems volunteers tackled hands-on projects like constructing picnic tables and park benches that will soon support community-based organizations across the region. What made the day especially meaningful was the spirit behind the work. This year’s service project was truly a family affair, with several volunteers bringing their kids along to help with the builds. Seeing young people learn the value of service firsthand was a powerful reminder of why MLK Day matters.

And no Cincinnati ToolBank volunteer day would be complete without Jet, the ToolBank’s four-legged supervisor, keeping a close eye on the action and offering morale boosts throughout the day🐾.

Building Capacity in Detroit and Beyond

TEKsystems volunteers also played a key role in helping prepare the new Detroit ToolBank, assembling tools and organizing storage systems that will soon support nonprofits and volunteers throughout the city. This behind-the-scenes work lays the foundation for long-term community impact—ensuring Detroit’s ToolBank can serve efficiently from day one.

Meanwhile, teams supported efforts at the Denver ToolBank Disaster Services Hub, helping prepare critical equipment and tools for disaster response and recovery. Their work strengthens ToolBank Disaster Services’ ability to quickly mobilize when communities need help the most.
