Richmond Shines: Citywide Cleanup & Volunteer Opportunities in Richmond, VA
This April, the Richmond ToolBank is mobilizing the community through Richmond Shines, a citywide cleanup and neighborhood revitalization campaign designed to make an immediate environmental impact across Richmond, Virginia.
Taking place during Earth Month and National Volunteer Month, Richmond Shines brings together residents, nonprofits, and partners to clean streets, parks, and storm drains and to protect the James River and Chesapeake Bay.
Why Richmond Shines Matters
Pollution on city streets does not stay put. It flows through storm drains into the James River and ultimately the Chesapeake Bay, impacting ecosystems across the region.
Richmond Shines focuses on prevention by encouraging community-led cleanup projects throughout April. These efforts help reduce pollution, improve public spaces, and strengthen neighborhood pride across every district in Richmond.
Free Tools for Richmond Cleanup Projects
To expand participation, Richmond ToolBank is waiving all tool borrowing fees in April for eligible Richmond Shines projects.
Community groups, neighborhood associations, and local nonprofits can access the tools they need to lead cleanup and beautification efforts at no cost. By removing financial barriers, more volunteers can take action and create visible change in their communities.
