TOOLBANK DISASTER SERVICES:
Tools That Rebuild Communities
As disaster season ramps up across the country, ToolBank Disaster Services remains ready to respond at a moment’s notice. From staging critical supplies in the Southwest to strengthening partnerships and preparing trailers nationwide, our team continues to equip communities with the tools they need to recover and rebuild. Here’s a look at how our network showed up in Q2: monitoring, mobilizing, and making an impact where it matters most.
Dallas
- Coordinated with Alan Aid and sent 10 pallets (462 disaster buckets) to be dispersed between Village of Ruidoso Emergency Management, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, The Red Cross, Grant County Emergency Management, and The Food Depot in New Mexico
- Continued in-person outreach and meetings were established with the Texas TDEM rep, Samantha Smith.
- Disaster Response Trailer (30ft) is stocked and ready to be deployed as we are actively in disaster season.
- South Texas weather storm was not as bad as we thought. No unmet needs now per VOAD.
Denver
- Two fires are developing in Southwest and Northwest Colorado. Neither poses a danger to inhabited areas so far. Monitoring.
- Meeting with Ian Browning at Salvation Army EDS on June 26th to see how we can collaborate.
- Collaborating with the Bear Creek Home Depot store (we recently had a build there). Spoke with manager Gabriela Marcelo and got them 4 boxes of Kids Workshop projects for them to build. The event will take place on June 25th at Jovial Gardens, with associates from Home Depot participating.
- Visited member agency Brent’s Place to talk about their upcoming projects.
- Aurora Public Libraries’ program lends tools to its members
- All tools are serviced and ready for deployment if needed.
- Assisted with builds and warehouse organization in Puerto Rico
- Working on some warehouse reorganization to optimize the dedicated maintenance and branding area.
Los Angeles
- Continuing to monitor the fires going on. The largest fire in Riverside County, with 3,085 acres burned, is 98% contained.
- In the final stages of setting out the fire mitigation kits at several locations, they are working on logistics for coming to pick up the kits.
- Connecting with local leaders on a bucket distribution.
- Continuing to reach out for both ToolBank and Car show.
Maui
- Continuing to make new connections on the ground.
