TOOLBANK DISASTER SERVICES: Tools That Rebuild Communities
In the wake of a powerful earthquake that struck parts of Venezuela, communities are facing widespread damage, disrupted infrastructure, and an urgent need for resources to begin recovery. According to early reports, the earthquake registered a magnitude above 7.2, affecting residents (>3,600 dead, >16,700 injured, “tens of thousands” missing) and causing structural damage across multiple regions, with total damage exceeding $37B (US). As emergency responders and local organizations mobilize, the need for tools and equipment has become critical to support debris removal, rebuilding efforts, and community stabilization.

Through ToolBank Disaster Services (TDS), we are proud to extend our support beyond U.S. borders, working alongside trusted disaster relief partners to ensure communities have the tools they need to begin recovery safely and efficiently.
Following an in-depth conversation with Reach Out Worldwide (ROWW), which has been actively coordinating response efforts on the ground, it was clear that basic but essential equipment like shovels and power tools were among the most urgently needed resources.
To meet that need, our TDS warehouse in Panama City, FL quickly mobilized a significant shipment of tools, including:
- 1,332 flat long-handle shovels
- 50 corded reciprocating saws
- 28 corded circular saws
- 36 corded drills
- 500 reciprocating saw blades
- 105 circular saw blades
- 42 drill bit kits
These tools are more than just equipment. They represent progress. They enable volunteers and local organizations to clear debris, access damaged structures, and begin the long road to rebuilding.
Making this deployment possible required strong coordination and trusted partnerships. All Hands and Hearts stepped in to manage transportation logistics, dispatching a truck for collection and organizing the movement of supplies. From there, Airlink is facilitating air transport, ensuring the tools reach Venezuela quickly and efficiently via Miami International Airport.
This effort also reflects the strength of collaboration across the disaster response sector. By working together with partners like Reach Out Worldwide, All Hands and Hearts, and Airlink, we are able to extend our reach, respond faster, and maximize impact for communities in crisis.
While ToolBank Disaster Services is best known for supporting disaster response efforts across the United States, opportunities like this highlight the scalability of our model and the universal need for access to tools during times of recovery. No matter the geography, our goal remains the same: to equip those on the ground with the resources they need to serve their communities.
